Fun in the Santa Ynez Valley

The inaugural Buellton Muddy Madness, a 5K charity mud run and festival, is set for June 1 in Buellton. The event will be held on the Flats in Buellton next to Ostrich Land. June 8 is Old Santa Ynez Day. This is the annual celebration where the Old West comes to life as the frontier town of Santa Ynez celebrates its birthday with a classic parade, food and entertainment all along Sagunto Street in downtown Santa Ynez. Street vendors including arts and crafts, antiques and collectibles, local products, and foods are there. Join the fun with your whole family.

Spend that afternoon in the beautiful Santa Ynez Valley tasting wine from 25 local wineries, listening to world-class professional jazz musicians, and sampling thirty different olive-themed dishes prepared by local chefs. The Jazz and Olive Festival is presented by the Los Olivos Rotary Club and all funds generated from the event are used for the charitable projects supported in part by the Rotary Club.

Valentine’s in the Valley

Spend Valentine’s Day at Flying Flags RV Resort in beautiful California wine country. In Solvang, the Elverhoj Museum will host a Valley Wines & Valentines fundraiser on February 14. This event will feature award-winning wines from local vintners, appetizers including cheese and chocolate. There will also be live music, a silent auction and a raffle. Tickets are $20, and include a wine glass, wine tasting and appetizers.

Firestone Winery in Los Olivos will host a Valentine’s Day Dinner on Saturday February 16. There will be a three course dinner and dessert with a chocolate theme, pairing dinner, dessert and wines together. Dinner will start at 6 and there is limited space available so RSVP to tastingroom@firestonewine.com ahead of time.

The Solvang Julefest events will start this week, but it’s not too late to make your reservation at Flying Flags RV Resort! This holiday festival runs through January 6, and gives families and friends plenty of ways to celebrate the season, in addition to the features right inside our resort.

Buellton Winterfest

It’s not too late to reserve your RV site or cottage for Buellton’s exciting 1st Annual Winterfest all day Sunday, December 2. All events will be within walking distance of Flying Flags RV Resort and you’ll have a warm and cozy place to come home to with award winning facilities and amenities.

Winterfest will kick off with a Breakfast with Santa from 9 a.m. to noon. General admission is $12 but is free for kids 10 and under, and includes a full breakfast and pictures with Santa Claus in the Buellton Rec Center Gym! Then come back to the Rec Center at 4 p.m. for the free Concert, Cookies & Cocoa. Local young musicians will perform while you snack on cookies and hot chocolate to get in the holiday spirit.

From 4 to 8 p.m. the Holiday Village will be open to the public, with live music, food and beverages, real snow, crafts, a photo booth and more. And don’t miss the Light Parade and Caroling Cruise at 6 p.m. with lighted hay trucks, decorated vehicles and caroling leading up to the Christmas Tree Lighting at 7 p.m. Countdown to Santa lighting the tree at Avenue of Flags and First Street to really get the holiday season started.
