May calendar up now!

We’ve updated our May calendar for upcoming events and activities at Flying Flags RV Resort. Because we love to make our guests feel at home, we plan many regular socials and activities to give everyone  a chance to meet their neighbors and have fun right inside the park.

Our Famous BBQ takes place every Friday night, where our chef cooks up delicious barbecued chicken, ribs and seafood. Get your tickets early at the resort office, this meal is too tasty to pass up and always sells out fast! Saturdays at 6 p.m. we have all the ingredients for guests to make their own sundaes in our cafe. This is followed by a free movie by the pool as long as the weather cooperates.

And Sunday mornings, our cafe cooks up hot breakfast with plenty of options for everyone. Get a cup of coffee, delicious food and sit by the pool or take your meal back to the rig. We also make sure to post any area events going on, whether it’s the recurring Solvang Farmer’s Market or special events like the upcoming Wine Country Half Marathon.

Upcoming Festivals

The 2012 Vintner’s Festival brought many visitors to the area for beautiful weather, entertainment and delicious food and wine samples. The Santa Ynez Valley News put up a slideshow for the festival. If you didn’t get a chance to go to the festival, check out the photos to see what you missed!

Though Santa Barbara county is known for wine, the region does cater to many different tastes. Santa Maria Fairpark will host the 25th Annual Strawberry Festival April 27-29 with carnival rides, go kart racing, live entertainment and a lot of strawberry tastings and cooking demos. Buy tickets and get more information on the festival website.

And the Buellton Brew Fest is coming up May 12 at nearby River View Park. Make a short trip to the scenic park from noon to 4 p.m. for local beer tastings, demos and beers to purchase. Enjoy live music, food and wine — which you’ll find at most local festivals.

2012 Vintner’s festival

Don’t wait any longer to make your reservation at Flying Flags RV Resort for the 2012 Vintner’s Festival. Sites are filling up fast and the festival runs April 20-22, with many winery events leading up to the main festival.

This is one of the area’s biggest events of the year, and you won’t want to miss it! Taste delicious, locally made wines, enjoy great food, listening to live music and meet plenty of new people.

The main festival takes place outdoors in nearby Los Olivos and will feature wines from over 100 local vendors, food from local master chefs, and a silent auction.

Plan a golf getaway

Flying Flags RV Resort is the most convenient place to stay for guests who want the perfect golf getaway. The nearby Alisal Golf Course offers a challenging and scenic course in the Solvang wine country. The course also hosts many monthly events for member guests and hosts events and holiday meals.

The course will have a special Easter brunch menu this weekend, with a waffle bar, omelets, seafood, ribeye, salads and desserts. Brunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and reservations should be made at  (805) 686-7644. Brunch is $45 per person and $22.50 per children under 12.
