Many people are coming into town for the Inaugural Criterium Bicycle Races next weekend. All races take place Saturday, March 31 and there will be $15,000 in cash and prizes awarded to winners. This event has races for all age groups, even a kids zone with bicycle and tricycle races. In addition there will be two bounce houses, food, face painting and other fun activities.
This event is open to the public, so you can come out and watch the cyclists, cheering them on to the finish line. The race starts on Second Street and the Avenue of Flags in Buellton, only a few minutes down the street from Flying Flags RV Resort. Races will start at 7 a.m. with short courses for different category groups, so streets will only be closed for temporary periods. Be sure to catch the pro men’s and women’s groups starting at 3 p.m.
This event will be a lot of fun for competitors and spectators, with a free cycling expo and beer garden hosted by Firestone Walker Brewing Company. Food will also be provided after the race by Avante Wine & Tapas. There will be something for everyone, so don’t miss this big community event hosted by the non-profit Santa Ynez Valley Cycling Club.
