With 100+ giant birds, Ostrichland U.S.A is one of the biggest attractions in Buellton. Get close enough to see how you measure up to the refuge’s ostriches and emus. And try your hand feeding the birds by hand while you’re there. Ostrichland’s gift shop sells unique ostrich wares and ostrich eggs, so if you’re feeling extra adventurous, you can bring the experience to your breakfast table too.

With its rocky outcrops and its royal blue waters, California’s Central Coast is like none other. And with an hour’s drive from our grounds in Buellton, you can sink your toes into the sand and feel the sun on your back at Avila Beach. With paddle board rentals, whale watching expeditions and surf schools, this beach offers a whole lot of excitement alongside extraordinary scenery.

The Santa Ynez Valley is filled with truly stunning wineries. And Alma Rosa is one of our favorites. With north-facing slopes, they produce layered Chardonnays and balanced pinot noirs. And with a tasting room that feels more like an art gallery, they serve up a bit of sophistication too. For great wines and an even better time, you don’t want to miss Alma Rosa.

Step into a storybook in this cozy, little museum. Just down the road in Solvang, admission is free and displays explore the life and work of Hans Christian Andersen, author of many fairytale classics like The Ugly Duckling and The Little Mermaid.
